And everything is just fine here? The negative athmosphere from some users has nothing to do with the community..there are also some here who is spreading a negative athmosphere...day after day..
Most of the iRacing community is very helpfull, like they are here.
But ok you don`t like it after one day, but imo you can`t judge it after only one or five days...
Throw in quite chaotic rookie races with tempers rising and you can imagine how he got to this conclusion
Nothing I saw when I joined....But yes Rookie races can be chaotic from time to time (but they are still driven under the Sporting Code) like they can on the open servers in LFS. Rookie is called Rookie..because there is Rookies there...many has to learn the cars and so on. But strange so many can get a higher license from the Rookie class from these chaotic races *LOL*... Tempers rising? *LOL*...
After 5 days you can judge the community... wauww thats fast...
Go to iRacing forum, ask questions, find some friends in the races and the community is like other communitys including LFS`s... I have found some really great guys in iRacing like in LFS. It`s up to you to be part of the iRacing community as in LFS..
Whats your name in iRacing..I would love to read your posts in the iRacing forum. It`s also easier to get "friends" in iRacing because there are the VOICE chat build in. No need for Team Speak etc.. Just plug in your headphones and microphone and you will soon get friends.. Just remember not to had VOICE chat on in the races..
I don`t think you would survive very long in iRacing if you did that very often. You could loose EVERYTHING you payed for..
I have a friend who swear on the server calling out names and so on - one protested him for breaking the Sporting Code and he got a warning and if he did it again within these three months he would be excluded from iRacing...lesson learned..
Wrong? Its great. I think you are looking too much at your SR points. Forget about the SR and race! All you need is above 3.0 at the season end to get the next license. Not many ACTIVE racers has not got their new license at the season end. Most of the guys who dont get promoted is guys who is not racing very often..
I has had many CLOSE battles with other people, and I`m above 4.99 in oval and in road..
Status RIGHT now for License B drivers in ROAD who should be promoted on tuesday to license A:
39 in total is NOT above 3.0. Some has stopped in iRacing, others can still gain SR up until monday evening. The guys who are between 2.0 - 2.99 in SR will still be at their licence level next season.
People BELOW 2.0 wil be demoted to a lower license.
Only 1 who has license B is below 2.0 in SR..
License C in ROAD:
124 who is BELOW 3.0 i SR at this point.
I have watched some of them randomly and most of guys I looked at has not driven in a very long time...There could be other reasons..but still only 124 who will NOT get promoted. Most of these guys could earn their missing SR in two or three races before monday evening..
Only 5 will be demoted to license D...
License D in Road is a bit more difficult because a lot of guys who gave up on iRacing after almost their rookie season are there. If Rookies did their required 4 TT or 2 races and was above 2.99 (they could had earned ALL those SR in TT) they got the D license and after a short period they quit iRacing, taking a break or they never ran in D license:
690 are between 2.0 - 2.99 and will NOT get promoted.
28 are BELOW 2.0 and will loose their license..
In Rookie ROAD license it`s a lot more who will not get their promotion. There is about 2700 Rookie drivers.
1550 are above 3.0 in SR and will get their D license.
1150 of 2700 drivers are between 2.0 and 2.99
About 70 of 2700 drivers are below 2.0 and can`t loose anything..
In Rookie a lot of them below 3.0 has only done very FEW races, many only one or two..
There are 8085 racers in Road on the status page..
How many has a A license? 175
B license 528
C license? 1458
D license? 3146
Rookie? 2778
On monday there will be 1550+ Rookies who will get their D license.
I just made this for fun and maybe there are something wrong in places...but I hope not...
Race and forget about those SR....
BTW. You are gonna start with a SR on 2.5 when you are joining iRacing at first. So MOST are gaining SR point throughout their career. So the SR does work very well imo..
Lets get a front wheel drive car as the next car and lets have a few European tracks. They will scan some Euro tracks this summer they told. But US tracks is still ok...
The VW Jetta TDI is a FWD car, when will we get it?.... Can`t wait..
Eligibility for this series is limited to these individuals, but in the next few weeks we’ll be making a related announcement with Volkswagen that will be of interest to all iRacers. (Many of you know Josh Hurley, a successful iRacer who was also the 2008 Jetta TDI Cup champion, and has been a big iRacing booster.)
Some thoughts from a real Skip Barber racing driver about the Skip Barber in iRacing (it`s from august 2008):
I picked up the SB RT2000 car and VIR today. This was my first experience with this car and this track ikn the sim. As I've driven the RT2000 at VIR in the real Skip Barber series I thought it would be a good way to test the realism.
My first impression was that in first gear the car didn't accelerate fast enough. But when looking at the 0-60 time, which is about 4.5 secs, I came to the conclusion that it was pretty accurate. The lack of g-forces is probably what I'm missing.
The car seemed very twitchy out of the box. Far more so than it is in real life. The back end wanted to come around on acceleration in almost every slow corner. This never happens in real life, at least to me anyway. I checked the garage settings and saw the rear tites were way over infalted. After fixing this the car was much more settled and much closer to the real thing.
With that one rear tire pressure setting change I was then able to get down to my real life lap times in just a few laps. So I'd say the track and the car are very well modeled. However the baseline setup is, in myopinion, way to inclined towards oversteer. So fix those rear tire pressures fast - at least at VIR.
This brings up one point which is in real life Skip Barber doesn't allow any changes to the car set-up, so why does the sim?
One final point - since you can't feel any g-forces, the esses, especially thre fast ones, are pretty boring in the sim, and easily flat out. In real life you feel like you are about to fly off the track at each change of direction - so it takes much more commitment to take them flat out. In fact I've never been able to do so!
So that's my 2 cents. I'd give the track and the car a 98 out of 100.
(after a few more laps)
Ok, after a few more laps I'm upping my rating to a 99 out of 100 for this car.
The sound is absolutely perfect in my opinion. They have the all the whines and rattles in there!
With the tyres properly inflated it handles just like the real thing. If you keep your foot down through the fast sweepers, it's really solid, but back off a bit and you will probably spin.
The rev limit seems a bit high at 6,500. SB usually recommends shifting at no more than 6,000 because the engine starts loosing power after 5,800. So it could be that I always shift around 6,000, and therefore think that's where the rev limiter kicks in. I'll have to check that next time I'm in the real car.
So it's getting more fun each session. Now I just need to do a race.
Is it worth it? I don`t know if it is for you, but it`s for me! I think it`s cheap because I consider it as a hobby. All my other hobbies is also costing me money and far more than iRacing....
99% of my races had been clean and fair - even there had been accidents.
I have beeing rammed from behind sometimes, but sh-- happens. Most of the times it`s in T1 on lap 1.
One of the times (not on lap 1 in T1) was from a guy who was a TOP driver, starting at the back without NO qualifying and coming straight from a Truck race to a Skip Barber race. He simply just pushed me off! I was of course mad and I thought about a protest and wrote this to the guy in a PM and it ended up in a good way - we ended up talking nicely to each other..
I`ve only done one protest and that was beacuse of BAD langue.. Nim did something about it and next time the guy behaved normally..
I never said iRacing was perfect and I never said LFS is perfect! Nothing is perfect. Iracing has some bad things, LFS has bad things as well..
But why bother with the bad things? Can I play iRacing? Yes. Can I play LFS? Yes. Things will improve in both games.
I don`t see them very often....i`m a clean driver.. My average Inc. is on 2.4xx in road..
And even i gets some Inc. in oval I really don`t see the green messages most of the times, because i`m fighting saving my car, looking after my competitors and so on, when thats done the green message are gone..
I love the green information.
If not, I would have made a suggestion in the members forum to see if it could be an optional thing you could say yes or no to, like the Voice chat during the race..
And it`s not about putting a wheel of, but half of your car..
iRacing is not for you then. Be happy with the game you are playing..
I have never seen any nagging and has not been in trouble...
Putting a wheel of (its half of your car) and you will get 1 Inc. point and so what? Either stop putting half of your car off the track or just live with that Inc. point. Spinning your car will get you 2 Inc. point. Thats fair because you are not safe if your are spinning, thats what SR is for. And after all, in Rookie I think you can have over 14 Inc. point before you are loosing SR.
SR is a good way to have people to drive on the track and not on the grass...
Sry if you has seen so much nagging, i have not heard it from anybody else than you, but sure it excists, like in all the other games I have played.. but as I wrote I have not seen it. Guys are complaining from time to time, but thats normal. I just keeps my mouth closed, I never ever discuss anything.....
My favourite cars and tracks? There are many tracks, ooohh my GOD..
At Road courses Skip Barber for sure and the Radical. Skip Barber on any configs. at Virginia is just awesome. The Radical on Sebring.. Why Skip and Virgina? Because the track is just simply awesome and the Skip Barber is a real beast to tame, but very awarding to drive.
The Riley on Daytona Road is also a blast.
In oval it`s Silverado, no ones matches that car, it`s a blast. I just love it on Las Vegas, Daytona and Lowe`s.. I`m looking forward to Talledega.. Oval? Because I likes CLOSE racing and the strategy..
Ok now to my SR countings in Road..
At license C there are 90 drivers below 2.50 in SR. If they are still driving iRacing it will be easy to get above 3.0
At license D there are about 250 drivers below 2.50 and it should be easier to get them above 3.0 than the C license.
